We’d love to welcome you for a relaxed day out at Alton Garden Centre. Whether you’re popping in for a few plants, meeting friends for lunch, or just fancy a stroll through our departments, everything you need is right here.

With free parking, a delicious restaurant, and plenty to explore both inside and out, it’s the perfect place to spend a few hours (or even the whole day!)

Opening Hours :
Monday to Saturday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday: 10:30am – 4:30pm
(Browsing from 9:30am on Sundays)

Large Car Park

We have a large, free car park with plenty of spaces, including dedicated disabled bays close to the entrance. There’s no need to book – just turn up and park with ease.

Dog Friendly

Dog Friendly Centre Including our All-Seasons Restaurant. We do ask you keep your dogs on a lead whilst on the premises.

Accessibility

Our centre is wheelchair-friendly, with level access throughout and wide aisles for easy browsing. Accessible toilets and baby changing facilities are also available.

We’re conveniently located on the London-bound side of the A127, just outside Wickford. Whether you’re heading from Southend, Chelmsford, Basildon or further afield, getting to us is nice and straightforward.

If You’re Travelling Westbound (Towards London)

  • Stay on the A127 heading towards London

  • Keep an eye out for signs for Alton Garden Centre as you approach Wickford

  • We’re directly accessible from the London-bound carriageway, with a clear slip road leading into the car park

  • Once you turn in, you’ll find plenty of free parking waiting for you

If You’re Travelling Eastbound (From London/Southend direction)

  • You’ll need to turn around at the next safe junction or roundabout to access the centre, as we’re only accessible from the London-bound side

  • A good spot to safely turn is the Dickens Corner junction or the Rayleigh Weir roundabout

  • Once you’re heading back west on the A127, just follow the signs and slip into our entrance when you see us on the left-hand side

By Train

  • The nearest train station is Wickford, on the Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street line

  • From there, it’s a quick 10-minute taxi ride or drive to the garden centre
